Biography
Salvatore Aprile was born in Modica, Sicily on 17th May 1986.
In 2005 he obtained his diploma from the Istituto Tecnico Archimede di Modica and, being very interested in law and economics, obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics from the University of Catania in 2011. His university years were a period of intensive training, during which he participated in the National Model United Nations Project, a diplomatic simulation which took place at the United Nations in New York, where he won the Outstanding Position Paper award.
Salvatore shares his passion for the jewellery and watchmaking sector, inherited from his parents Gaspare and Concetta (both of whom are jewellers) with his younger brother, the watchmaker Gabriele Aprile. This led him, in 2015, to enrol on the Analysis and Classification of Diamonds Course at the IGI (Gemology Institute of Italy) where he obtained his Diploma in Gemstone Analysis in 2016.
From 2013 to 2018 Salvatore and his brother managed a pop-up jewellery and watch store in a seaside resort where he also ran a holiday rental.
His desire to specialise in the jewellery sector encouraged him to take an important decision in 2021, when, thanks to the support of his family, he enrolled at the prestigious HRD Antwerp Academy of Gemology in Belgium and obtained his HRD Gemology Diploma.
Today Salvatore is Web and Social Media Manager and Gemologist at the I Monili Jewellery Store in Modica. He is currently developing his own jewellery line, the Nume Jewellery Project.
The I Monili Aprile Jewellery Store
The shop was opened in 1994 and was based on an idea conceived by Gaspare and his wife Concetta. Today it is still true to its roots in a small workshop founded by Gaspare’s grandfather Gaspare Aprile in the 1930s.
In 1960 Gaspare’s father, Salvatore, opened his first jewellery shop in Modica and then another in Scicli.
In 1994 his professional legacy passed to his son Gaspare and his wife Concetta. Both inspired by their passion for jewellery and watches, they began their business life by opening a new jewellery shop called I Monili in Modica.
Today our family preserves its tradition as owners of jewellery and watch stores and also offers watch repair services as well as our bespoke “Tailor Made” service, making jewellery to measure according to the requirements of the client. In addition, in partnership with the HRD Antwerp Academy of Gemology, the jewellery store has become a Point of Trust, a programme which selects jewellery stores which supply safe products that do not come from areas of conflict.
